I have been drawn to the wonder of birth since I was a teenager, and decades later I am still in awe of it all. I am amazed at every birth; the beauty of the process, the strength of the mother and baby and the love that fills the room.  I am a mother of three wonderful children, now all grown up. I had very positive births and breastfeeding experiences with each of them. I love every phase of being a mother, they are the greatest joy of my life. I am also a proud grandmother!

I am originally from the UK, but I lived and worked in the USA for many years. I now live in Paris and work as a full spectrum doula. I adore my work! It is a great pleasure and privilege accompanying women and families at this very special time in their lives.

I previously worked as a nurse in labour and birth, antenatal & postnatal clinics, hospitals, birth centre and  women's health centres for over 30 years. I am a registered nurse in the USA and the UK (BSN/ BSc hons).

I am also an IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant) .

I love learning and have taken a multitude of courses and workshops related to childbirth including the Newborn Behavior Observation course at the Brazelton Institute, Breastfeeding London IBCLC course,  Naoli Vinaver:The Art of Birth workshops, Mindful Hynobirthing practitioner training, Calm Birth Meditation, an instructor course with the International Infant Massage Association , Innate Traditions Physiologic Baby Care ,  and many more over the years. Presently I am part of the beautiful midwife, Ruth Ehrhardt's Silent Birthkeeper and midwifery study circles. In 2020 I began studying with the wonderful midwife Whapio at The Matrona School of Holistic "Quantum Midwifery" .This magnificent course has expanded all realms of my practice like no other. I am continuing to learn from these incredible courses, study circles and the amazing women from all over the world that I am meeting! I have completed the studies for The Matrona Holistic Childbirth Consultant and Family advocate along with their Holistic Doula program. My midwifery/birthkeeping studies continue as I am a life long student, endlessly fascinated, and always learning.

I am often not sure what title to use, doula, birth attendant, birthkeeper, birth guardian... there are many possibilities. I'd prefer not to use any at all but they can be helpful for families searching for different types of services.

Being truly with women and protecting the miraculous process of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding are central in my life.

I have been a long time admirer of the work of Michel Odent, I had the immense pleasure of attending the paramanadoula workshop with Michel and Lilliana Lammers. Along with my deep trust and reverence for women and birth, Odent's view of protecting the woman's birthing environment, so that physiological birth can take place, is at the heart of my philosophy.I have been reading Michel Odent`s books and attending his lectures and workshops since the 80`s, his work has shaped my views and practice profoundly. I feel a great love, connection and respect for midwife Ruth Ehrhardt for practicing true midwifery, and offering her heart and soul in her work with families and doulas/ birthkeepers. I am also deeply moved by Whapio's phenomenal teachings, especially on the vital, healing soul to soul relationship between a woman and midwife and her strong belief in woman/ family led care.

My greatest teachers are my own family and the women and families I have had the honour of being with during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum.I am a big advocate of undisturbed birth at home and hope this will return to being seen as the normal, safe place for babies to be born.  Avoiding or minimising any interventions and trusting the incredible, innate wisdom of the body is vital in facilitating a healthy labour and birth, but ultimately the woman is the one who knows what is best for her, and I respect a mothers choice above all. Birth belongs to women and their families. Having worked in a variety of settings, home birth , birth centre ,and a level 3 hospital, I understand that from time to time there are situations that require medical interventions, these are rare. Understanding the information can be very helpful and calming. Whatever the circumstances , birth is always a sacred event and the care and environment should reflect this, and honour the mother, baby and family.

Postnatally I offer physical and emotional care, reassurance and guidance with breastfeeding and physiologic newborn care,

I offer a listening ear (and heart) as you process your birth story and transformation to motherhood, I can make you a healthy meal, run an errand, give you a massage, help with other children, most importantly  I "mother the mother".

Honouring birth and babies and their parents is an integral part of my life. As your doula, I will care for you throughout this very special time in whichever way you need.

So many words commonly used to describe childbirth-support, patient, management, delivered by, coached, helped, guided-suggest that a woman does not have the power to give birth without being dependent on somebody else. This isn't the case at all.
